Meetings and hearings have been set for Rezoning Case No. Z-41-18, which requests a change in zoning for approximately 2.16 acres located at the northeast corner of 7th Street and Thomas Road (the "Property") from Parking P-1 District to R-5 Multi-Family Residence District and High­Rise HR District. The Property is currently part of an expansive surface parking lot which serves the Phoenix Country Club. A local development company, AGS, LLC, proposes to redevelop the Property as high­quality condominiums and to redesign and improve the entire Phoenix Country Club parking lot to continue to meet the parking needs of the Phoenix Country Club and to create a shaded, walkable environment along 7th Street. The quality and compatibility of the proposed condominiums will invigorate the unique and long-standing Phoenix Country Club site while activating the under-utilized northeast corner of this intersection and serving as a much-needed stimulus for further redevelopment and positive revitalization in the surrounding area. The Encanto Village Planning Committee will forward a recommendation to the Planning Commission after considering testimony from affected parties and reviewing the staff report prepared by the Planning and Development Department. The Village Planner is Hannah Bleam who can be reached at 602-256-5648 and Ms. Bleam can answer questions regarding the City review and hearing processes, as well as the staff position once their report is complete. If the Planning Commission decision is not appealed within 7 calendar days, it is scheduled for Ordinance adoption by the City Council without further discussion.
